Miyagi Prefectural Governor Yoshihiro MuraiYoshihiro Murai
(Miyagi Prefectural Governor)

I am delighted that Miyagi prefecture has been chosen as the location of the 19th America Japan Grassroots Summit.
Miyagi prefecture is the sister prefecture of Delaware, the home state of Vice President Biden. It is the location of Matsushima, one of the three most beautiful sites of Japan and is blessed with both sea and mountains.
Please come and experience the charm of Miyagi for yourself, and further the friendship between our two countries.

The Tohuku Japan-America Society, which I chair, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Nothing makes me happier than being able to invite new friends from both America and Japan to Miyagi in this special year. Let's chat, eat and laugh together and make friendships that cross international borders. We are looking forward to meeting all of you in July.

Chairman, Center for International Exchange Taizo WatanabeTaizo Watanabe

Annual America-Japan Grassroots summits are held alternately in Japan and America to provide opportunities for people of both nations to understand more about each other and nurture friendship between them, overcoming differences in language, culture and tradition. The Miyagi Summit to be held this year will be a great success, I hope, through your active participation and the long held tradition of hospitality inherited by people living in this beautiful land of green and world-famous landscape.
